Red Cherry Shrimp

Scientific Name: Neocaridina heteropoda var. red

Common Name: Red Cherry Shrimp

Size: males ~2.5cm, females ~3-3.5cm

Temperature: 68-86°F / 20-30°C, but can tolerate as low as 50°F / 10°C. Ideal temp. ~23°C

Water Parameters: pH 6-8, from soft to very hard water. Ideal conditions are soft-medium hardnes with an alkaline pH

Aggression: Very peaceful

Food: Algae, fish foods, vegetables and some fruits. Occassional rabbit pellets and rice acceptable. Does not eat plants

Origin: Originally bred from the wild form Neocaridina heteropoda in Taiwan

Breeding: Larval development is completely suppressed (no planktonic larval stage). Shrimplets become benthic immediately after hatching
